Another Garth song debuts, this time "Callin' Baton Rouge", a great song if you ask me, country music at its finest. And a position below, PJ Harvey debuts with the eerie "Electric Light", a wonderful slow song from her best album (in my opinion) "Is This Desire?".

19.- Sheryl Crow - Members Only (DEBUT)
20.- DC Talk - Mind's Eye/In The Light (DEBUT)

I bought "Double Live" by Garth Brooks around this time, and I loved it. Not knowing much about Garth, I picked the best songs and they started to clog the chart jajajaja. "Standing Outside The Fire" achieves the highest debut this week and it's from the "In Pieces" album. At 19 we see that... Sheryl with "Members Only". And finally at 20, another one of those double songs I liked to use (many many more of these will arrive the chart very soon) DC Talk with a couple of great songs "Mind's Eye" and "In The Light". They're a christian band, but who cares as long as they make good music.

The 18 weeks run at number one of Dave Matthews Band ended here, where they allow REM to conquer the top again, this time with "At My Most Beautiful". At 16, Live debuts with "Insomnia And The Hole In The Universe", Ed Kowaczyck says in the dvd for "Awake" (a compilation) that he still doesn't know what most of the songs on "Secret Samadhi" are about... WHAT?? Whatever! I like them. At 17, yet another Dave Matthews Band song, this time the catchy single "Ants Marching". And at 20, the pop singer with flourishes of country Shania Twain, enters with a so so song, leaning towards bad.

19.- Axelle Red - Elle Danse Seule (DEBUT)
20.- Jordan Knight - Give It To You

At 18, Björk debuts with the fifth single from her "Homogenic" album, the song "All Is Full Of Love". The song released with the video was much better than the simplistic and flat album version, which, while not terrible or anything, was really forgettable. Oh yeah, the video included two lesbian robots! And at 19 Axelle Red enters with "Elle Danse Seule". Even since then, I was drawn to international music, which built up to this day, when I have began a french top 20 every week!! Ahh, isn't it cool?... Oh yeah, ummm Axelle...

18.- Dave Matthews Band - Pay For What you Get (DEBUT)
19.- Björk - Pluto
20.- Jordan Knight - Give It To You (DEBUT)

Aww, poor Tori, I was naive and foolish that I didn't get how good she was back then, so she slides from 13 to 17. Anyway, Dave Matthews Band were still thrilling me, so at 18 they debut with "Pay For What you Get". And at 20, a former New Kid On The Block, Jordan Knight with a catchy song called "Give It To You"

19.- Céline Dion - On Ne Change Pas (DEBUT)
20.- Natalie Imbruglia - Impressed

REM, after the success in my chart, released "Lotus" a good song, but it was this one "At My Most Beautiful" the 3rd single, the one who brought them back to the list... even if they still were not done with "Daysleeper/Why Not Smile". And at 19, Céline Dion enters with "On Ne Change Pas" a beautiful song. Later, in 2006, Céline would release a french compilation that is called like that "On Ne Change Pas".

19.- New Radicals - You Get What You Give
20.- Five - It's The Things You Do (DEBUT)

Awww, another boyband! I love those groups :D This time was Five, or 5ive... oh well. I recently learned that this song that debuts at 20, "It's The Things You Do", was released as a single only for America and didn't get a release on the UK, which was kinda cool, as the song is really nice. Of course, the US only like urban music, so this song didn't open the market for Five. And how horrible is to see Sheryl at number two?? Yeah, don't tell me, I have to live with it.

19.- Matchbox 20 - Back 2 Good (DEBUT)
20.- Embrace - My Weakness Is None Of Your Business

Great! The queen of my chart debuts here again, this time with "I i e e e" one of the rockiest things she's done, even if some people go as far as calling it pop... whatever!! And a place below, at 19, the entrance of Matchbox 20 with "Back 2 Good" another good song by the group. The thing is that the songs that were released from "Yourself Or Someone Like You" were all good, but the album tracks lacked a bit and were more or less forgettable. And I suppose the transition to a less mainstream chart was already occuring? Take a look at the World Chart Show this same week (in 1999 of course):
10.- Will Smith - Miami / 9.- The Cardigans - Erase/Rewind / 8.- Emilia - Big Big World / 7.- George Michael/Mary J. Blige - As / 6.- Whitney Houston - It's Not Right But It's Ok / 5.- Lenny Kravitz - Fly Away / 4.- Cher - Believe / 3.- The Offspring - Pretty Fly For A White Guy / 2.- Roxette - Wish I Could Fly / 1.- Britney Spears - Babby One More Time /
A little shitty list, right? (WCS's, not mine!!)
