18.- Tina Turner & Sting - On Silent Wings
19.- Mike Oldfield - With This (???????)
20.- Eros Ramazzotti - Stella Gemella (DEBUT)

That damn Alanis refuses to go down... the chart! jajaja Anyway, Sin With Sebastian, he was kinda laughable because his music was ridiculous, but I fell for it jajajaja. however "He Belongs To Me" was not as bad, it was a little bit cool. Then, at 16, Peter Andre. All over the internet, people hate him, but i just don't see why. I bought his album "Natural" and at the time, I liked it, now, I gave it away. But the music was nowhere near enough as bad as people claim it is... who knows. Here, with "Mysterious Girl" (from the album "Natural"). Ahh, rappers in my chart?? a sight to behold. And finally, the brilliant second single from the then current Eros Ramazzotti album, the song "Stella Gemella". Even if the video was kinda boring, I looooved it.

17 - Tony Rich Project - Nobody Knows
18.- Tina Turner & Sting - On Silent Wings (DEBUT)
19.- Gloria Estéfan - Reach
20.- Mark Morrison - Return Of The Mack

Aww, at number 5, we have an awesome song "As Long As It Matters" by Gin Blossoms, really beautiful. Too bad that their album from 2006 was such a disappointment. At 6, another Take That song I had heard "Relight My Fire". At 10, the awesome third single from "Older" by George Michael, a really elegant album full of great songs. Jan Arden tries a second chance to conquer the chart debuting again at 14. And my beautiful Tori Amos also debuts with "Silent All These Years", a song I had heard before, but didn't remember. I was watching a tv show where they showed more or less old videos and they showed this one, so I had to chart it... even if only for a week. Then, help me out here, a Mike Oldfield song debuts at 16, the radio host introduced the song something like 'And here it is Mike Oldfield with this' So, i was like... with this what? wait, maybe that's the name of the song! So it stuck, I have listened some Mike Oldfield albums and the song is not on any of those, so my quest to find the name of it is still ongoing. And finally, at 18, Tina Turner with the featured vocals of Sting.

18.- Toni Braxton - You're Makin' Me High (DEBUT)
19.- Hootie And The Blowfish - Old Man And Me
20.- Dog's Eye View - Everything Falls Apart

What else could be expected from the former leader of Take That, once they disbanded? Going solo? Check. Having a number one hit in my chart? Also check. "Forever Love" is indeed a sweet ballad, I still have fond memories of it to this day, so it's not that bad. And at number 5, a latin sensation, well, I think they were american, but from Florida or something. No Mercy, a singer and a couple of twins making choruses. The song "Where Do you Go?" was so successful, that it even had a spanish version! I remember it like yesterday: 'Where do you do?... a donde?... where do you go?' jajajajaj, fun times. Then, a lot lower, Color Me Bad, a boy band from the early 90's trying to survive in the modern world... didn't succeed. But this song was pretty. And finally, Toni Braxton with "You're Makin' Me High" a common R&B song.

18.- Joan Osborne - St. Theresa (DEBUT)
19.- Smashing Pumpkins - Tonight, Tonight
20.- Dog's Eye View - Everything Falls Apart

ARGH! "Coco Jambo" was atrocious... sad days for my chart indeed. And Joan Osborne returns after being dumped after one week. Joan is still recording to this day, but without the success of 1996.

18.- Dog's Eye View - Everything Falls Apart
19.- Smashing Pumpkins - Tonight, Tonight
20.- Super De Luxe - She Came On (DEBUT)

As the legend said, "Til I Hear It from You" comes back after a lousy performance many weeks before. Now, I had the song in my posession, so i could listen to it whenever I wanted, excellent song. At 17, Hootie And The Blowfish, and well, I can't even remember how the song goes jajajaja. And finally, another one of those rock-pop songs I liked so much and still like, "She Came On" by Super De Luxe. I don't know anything about them, but the song was cool.

18.- Dog's Eye View - Everything Falls Apart
19.- Smashing Pumpkins - Tonight, Tonight
20.- OBK - Nada Soy Sin Ti

It's sickening watching that insane obsession I had with Take That! They were not bad, but come on! I watched the video for "It Only Takes A Minute" once and it debutes at number one! And the songs was from their first album. Oh well. Then, the song that should have made Joan Osborne a one hit wonder debuts at numbebr 17, "St. Theresa", this one doesn't have that awful intro, and it's much more interesting.

17 - Gloria Estéfan - Reach
18.- Smashing Pumpkins - Tonight, Tonight
19.- Metallica - Until It Sleeps
20.- Oasis - Champagne Supernova

"Fable" by Robert Miles debuts at number one. This song was also in the same line as "Children" but with some incidental vocals like "Tell me a fable" and such. He was very popular around that time. At 7, the failure "Wild Days", i think that song only charted with me and nowhere else in the world jajajaja. And at number 9 (wow, 3 high debuts this week) someone who says he's called DJ Dado... or something like that.

18.- Eros Ramazzotti - Piú Bella Cosa
19.- Oasis - Live Forever
20.- Dishwalla - Counting Blue Cars

"Return Of The Mack" was catchy back then. Now? it's horrible. And if OBK scored a hit with "Nada Soy Sin Ti", why not with another single? "Mi Razón De Ser" enters the chart, great electronic, dance, pop and techno music.

18.- Sax - Cecilia (DEBUT) (?????????)
19.- Eros Ramazzotti - Piú Bella Cosa
20.- George Michael - Fastlove

The mystery reigns this chart. Who is Sax? How do you even write it? I remember hearing that song and thinking it was great, so, when I got internet, I started a hunt for the song, but never found anything about it. Maybe it's spelled wrong, or maybe that song is product of my imagination, we'll never know. Amistades Peligrosas enter to the chart again, with the same song. And old crappy song by Oasis too and "Counting Blue Cars" by Dishwalla, this last one, being a great great song.

What a leap for Robert Miles! The song by Eros has the accent to the other side, but since this current keyboard I am using is too weird, i have no clue how to type it correctly. Anyway, I never understood why this song was VERY popular, specially since he released many many greater songs. And a song from the olympics "Reach" by Gloria Estéfan

Incredible the staying power of "Day Job". Also Pet Shop Boys and Take That of course. "Never Forget" was released as the third single from the album "Nobody Else". At 8, Everything But The Girl debut with "Wrong" and OBK does the same at number 14, with an awesome song called "Nada Soy Sin Ti". In fact, only after a year ago or so, they were still my favorite spanish group. But El Canto Del Loco have taken that position now

jajaja, i keep embarrassing myself with these old charts, Bryan Adams? sure! Then, we have Metallica at number 18. The song "Until It Sleeps" began what I see as the decay of the credibility of the band. you see, the song is still good, but ever since, they have been making more and more mainstream music (which is not bad) and lose respect of many fans, due to their blander sound. And finally at 13, we have the enigmatic Ké, who is he? who was his band? what happened to him? We'll never know...

And to conmemorate this, Fool's Garden debut with "Lemon Tree". They were one-hit wonders, but other singles were not that bad. And at 15, Garbage... ugh! "Only Happy When It Rains".

Tori Amos behind Mark Owen again??? Yes, it never happened again, I promise!! Anyway, the highest debut goes to the italian Robert Miles with his first international hit "Children", the song even had two different videos. People who claimed knowing much about music, kept raving how much they knew about this kind of music and how much it calmed down teenegaers in france after a night of discotheques... anyway! The song is entirely instrumental and VERY good! Then, the trio Fugees debut also with another international hit "Killing Me Softly", a cover. Boyzone also return to the chart with a more upbeat single, "Together", trying to make up for "Coming Home Now" which was not played anywhere!! And another good song by Sting at 14, "You Still Touch Me". At one point, I even considered buying "Mercury Falling", since all the singles released were to my liking.

The Pet Shop Boys showed they were not a band to consider strong, as their song "BBefore" was embarrassingly falling already, and other songs in the future never did that well... except one... which reached number one! jajajajaja Then, two old songs by Take That arrive at the top 5, at number 5, an horrendous song sung by Mark Owen, and at number one, another sung by Robbie Williams (this one, much better), so Gary Barlow took a back seat.

When the weather changes, and it's all windy and weird, the radio begins to receive radio stations from Texas (not always, but sometimes), so I was lucky to catch "Caught A Lite Sneeze" in one of those stations (specially cause I don't see that song as being radio friendly) and recorded half of it. That was what made me debut the song again, being that it's my favorite song ever. It wasn't at that time, but I liked it a lot. And Dog's Eye View debut with a great song. I heard they released something last year, but never had the chance to listen.

There were many great songs on the Gin Blossoms album, and they go ahead and release one of the weaker ones as a single: "Day Job", which is still pretty good, but anyway... And the other debuts comes from a couple of artists that never again made the list: Nick Cave and Kylie Minogue. However, this song is great, and the video is magical!

That Alanis was enjoying a string of hits, while mining very well her "Jagged Little Pill" album, here, with the 4th single "You Learn". And straight from Spain, the land of 'El Juego De La Oca', we have Amistades Peligrosas, with a cute song that even if it was in spanish, it contained words that to this day I still wonder what they mean... like "pringao"... what?? jajaja it goes like "Sin tu valía, seré un pringao" jajajaja, it was good to sing! And the fact that in the World Chart Show only mentioned Tori being at number 28, but not playing the song, made me anxious, but still craving to hear more! And given the fall, it was obvious I kept waiting.

OH YEAH!!! The music goddess debuts! The only, the incomparable, the unique Tori Amos made her first chart appearance with the first single from her 3rd album "Boys For Pele". I watched the video on XPO (on MTV) and my jaw dropped. I couldn't believe how great the video was, how angelic her voice is and how entrancing and WEIRD the song was, I was hypnotized! The video was repeated on 3x1 and never to be played again!!! Also, debuts by Oasis, Céline Dion and George Michael. Due to weird release schedules between America and Europe, some songs appeared in the World Chart Show before they made an appearance in Mexico, and many times, they never arrived here. So, to me, the debuts this week, were like "So what? anyone jealous that I get to know these songs before anyone else?" jajajaj, no, i wasn't that cocky, but it was great!

Mariah strikes back with the 3rd single from "Daydream" a pretty good tune to sing along. And what can I say? I live in México, so it was impossible to escape Shakira, so she debuts with "Estoy Aquí" and also from Colombia, Los Aterciopelados with their only decent song "Bolero Falaz"

Ahhh, a new song arrives at number one! And in fact, debuts there! And it's by... the same group? Oh well... At least there's a new picture! By that time, I started listening to this really really cool radio show called World Chart Show, where the most played songs around the world, would be compiled and form the chart. That's how I found out about many many artists. And when i heard them mentioning a new Take That song along with the comment that they were splitting, I freaked out! jajajajaja. Smashing Pumpkins debut with their last single, the more hard rock oriented "Bullet With Butterfly Wings", which is in fact, a lot better than "1979". Also, there was a popular song then called "Spaceman" by Babylon Zoo, ugh! And Soraya, the now deceased singer, debuted with the english version of her song "De Repente", actually, whenever I chart any song that has many versions, i chart them all together... except a few cases that ... we'll get to that later.

The idiomatic expansion continued! Jovanotti is an italian singer, and debuts at 20. La Bouche had other big hits, but "I Love To Love" was the best one, too bad it wasn't a hit as big. Oh, and in the "These Days" video, you can see Sailor Moon! Cranberries also debut with "Salvation", a song that caused sensation here in México. And the highest debut came from Soul Asylum with "Promises Broken". I feel that with this chart, the feel of the whole list changed, don't know exactly why, but that's it.

Not completely sure, but I think "Headphones" by Björk, was one of the first songs that opened my mind to accept more atmospheric music, instead of extremely happy or beat driven styles. It was a seed that was planted, but it took a while to develop. At 19, debuted Foo Fighters, a band I don't like, but at the time, their video for "Big Me" was really funny, you should check it out. And who would've thought? Diego Torres leaped from 19 to 5!!

And guess who bought "Post" by Björk during the time of this chart? Yes! me! It was on cassette and the damn cassette didn't have the tracklist printed on the backside, so i said, fuck it, I love her, I'm paying! And she captivated me, in fact, she was one of my 5 picks for album of the year on 1996.

Jajajajajaja, Gwyneth Paltrow appears in the Melissa video! Which by the way, is a great song, not GREAT, but just great enough to remember it fondly. We also have "Penelope" by Diego Torres, a cover that leaves the original to shame in my personal opinion. Joan Manuel Serrat never gave it that feeling needed... but that's just me. It's a beautiful story about a woman who goes insane by waiting her man for years and years. He promised he would return and that's her only hope, but when he finally returns, he's so changed and she says "He wasn't like this, your face and your skin, you're not who I am waiting for" ahhhhh, it still breaks my heart. Anyway, and finally Alanis returns with a new single "Ironic" which proved to be a worldwide hit, and since my chart was based around hits, it was impossible not to debut here.

It was obvious to see Blur fall, damn MTV only played the video twice that i know... if they played it more times, that must have been months later. And at 14, we see the debut of David Bowie helped by the Pet Shop Boys in the song "Hallo Spaceboy" which was a nice song. This was during a brief period (a few years) where I considered Bowie to be great. While at the top, Björk is still trying to dethrone Take That. "Hyper-Ballad" had an awesome video, and I wished the video would had covered the totallity of the song.
