"This Will Be My Year", many memories attached to this song, just great music. And the ever wonderful Tori Amos enters with the equally wonderful "Marianne", a very richly orchestrated song, just wonerful.

The highest entry comes at 11, Live, with a great song, first song we heard from the "The Distance To Here" album, it has a great video, and even if it's great, i see this one (album and single) as the beginnning of their downfall, achieving less success and making music not as good that their peak with the last album, still, a solid album. At 15, the experiment of the decade, Garth Brooks took on the role of Chris Gaines, a ficticious character that was supposed to be the main character in a movie called "The Lamb". the movie never happened, and Garthie received horrible critics for making this album, and for not being country. I loved it by the way. At 17... what??? I don't remember charting "That's The Way It Is", and well, even if i don't like the song now, I suppose I did back then. At 19, another one of those shameful double songs I started to chart, two simple Jewel songs, nothing great. And the electro pop mexican group, created an amazing album called "Adición +" and the second single was to me, their best song to date, here, entering at 20.

Only one debut this week, a beautiful song from Céline Dion's mouth. To me, darker than her usual stuff, but still within the boundaries of pop music. If I have not say it, I much prefer her french music to her english counterpart.

Björk re-entered the chart thanks to me buying the single, which includes some pretty cool remixes, and the artwork is cool too. On those days, my ffandom for her was at its peak, so yeah. And at 20, Shania Twain debuts again with another song, but whatever, I don't like her anymore.

20.- Garth Brooks - The Dance

Garth Brooks' best song makes its appearance for the first time here. A wonderful ballad that was planned to have a video and all, but the song didn't become a single, so we had to wait until the end of 2005 (or '06?) to watch the video for it, but it was so worth it! And at 18, Pet Shop Boys enter with the mildly mediocre song "New York City Boy", the song is too simple and the video sucks! I liked it back then.

Leonardo De Lozanne, once the singer of Fobia, released "Series De Ficción" his solo album, but recived too much citicism for this great album. "Las Luciérnagas" was a trip-hop influenced song that didn't become a single, but I liked it then. I still like it a lot, but the female backing vocals just do not go well with the song.

Boy bands were the IN thing during 1999, and I liked them! jajajajaja. Anyway, I can't remember how "Crazy For You" goes, it's from 'N Sync's debut album, but it also seems to be erased from memory... and if we add that a person stole it shamelessly from me... ARGH! Anyway! Five aalso debuted this week with the first single from their second album, the catchy "If Ya Gettin' Down". And one (if not THE ONE) of my favorite male artists debuts with a song from his 1995 album "Forever Blue", becaue during this time period, it was used to promote the movie Eyes Wide Shut. And it was great, cause they made a very sexy video, roar!! Chris Isaak is the name of the game.

Tori Amos is back! This time with the double A-side single "Hey Jupiter/Professional Widow" (which many people still refer to as Proofessional Window... jajaja) A gorgeous ballad and a really really abrasive song. For these two songs, I used the original versions, not the remixes. And ex NKOTB Joey enters with his first solo single.

At 16, Fey enters with the dance ready song "Cielo Líquido", but to this day, I do not understand why it is called like that. It really makes no sense, cause the lyrics are normal and follow certain pattern, but it would be equaly reasonable to call the song "Airy Water" or something like that, anyway, it's a cool song. At 18, another lame attempt to keep charting Portsihead. At 19, Creed. I also do not understand the hatred for this band, there surely were many other lesser bands who received much less criticism, another unexplainable thing in the world. And coming at 20, the duo of Sopra Contrariar and Gloria Estéfan with "Santo Santo", I still remember the video.

Semisonic also enter with a song that for me is their best one on their albumm "Feeling Strangely Fine", the song is "Made To Last". Nowadays, Dan Wilson, frontman of the group, is about to release a solo album, so a new Semisonic album seems distant now. And finally, at 19, No Doubt's comeback song "New" a very catchy song.

"Hang" is a pretty sparse ballad placed at the end of Matchbox 20 debut album. Portishead were still trying to get another 'hit' in my chart, this time with "Sour Times". Then, at 19 it's a Blur song that I have no idea what it sounds like, my mind apparently has erased it completely from my memory, the song is "1992". And finally at 20, a Smashing Pumpkins song that from the beginning had no chances at making a lasting impression.

And Garbage debuts at 20, yes, garbage! as the song "You Look So Fine" enters at 20. I can't believe I even liked them one time, but this song fails even worse at making a good run than Portishead.

The trademark song for Garth Brooks, "The Dance", makes appearance here debuting at number 10, a beautiful country ballad, recently (December 2006) covered by one of my still favorite bands Westlife, but if they keep releasing more covers albums... sorry, let's return to the chart. Céline Dion here accomplishes something that she would never accomplish again (at least not until July 2007), taking one of her songs to number one here in my chart. It's cool that it was this song, as this one remains my favorite one from her catalog, just gorgeous.

I bought "Double Live" by Garth Brooks around this time, and I loved it. Not knowing much about Garth, I picked the best songs and they started to clog the chart jajajaja. "Standing Outside The Fire" achieves the highest debut this week and it's from the "In Pieces" album. At 19 we see that... Sheryl with "Members Only". And finally at 20, another one of those double songs I liked to use (many many more of these will arrive the chart very soon) DC Talk with a couple of great songs "Mind's Eye" and "In The Light". They're a christian band, but who cares as long as they make good music.

WHAT?? Whatever! I like them. At 17, yet another Dave Matthews Band song, this time the catchy single "Ants Marching". At 18, Björk debuts with the fifth single from her "Homogenic" album, the song "All Is Full Of Love". The song released with the video was much better than the simplistic and flat album version, which, while not terrible or anything, was really forgettable. Oh yeah, the video included two lesbian robots! And at 19 Axelle Red enters with "Elle Danse Seule". Even since then, I was drawn to international music, which built up to this day, when I have began a french top 20 every week!! Ahh, isn't it cool?... Oh yeah, ummm Axelle...

I recently learned that this song that debuts at 20, "It's The Things You Do", was released as a single only for America and didn't get a release on the UK, which was kinda cool, as the song is really nice. Of course, the US only like urban music, so this song didn't open the market for Five. And how horrible is to see Sheryl at number two?? Yeah, don't tell me, I have to live with it.

And a place below, at 19, the entrance of Matchbox 20 with "Back 2 Good" another good song by the group. The thing is that the songs that were released from "Yourself Or Someone Like You" were all good, but the album tracks lacked a bit and were more or less forgettable. And I suppose the transition to a less mainstream chart was already occuring? Take a look at the World Chart Show this same week (in 1999 of course):

I mean, *I* never found out much about him, but regardless, his song was really catchy... more adult oriented, but still wonderful, maybe that sound was what caught me since the first moment. Alanis Morissette enters with "Unsent", ummm, if I said in an early entry that there were no more Alanis songs in the chart, I was wrong, I completely forgot about this one, a sweet song, and easily, one of the best on "Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie". And finally, Björk re-debuts with "Pluto", which was in the list towards the end of 1997 and early 1998.

El debut dominador which means the dominating debut (like they said on the World Chart show) was for Céline Dion with the title track from her newest french album, a really delicate and fragile ballad, one of the most beautiful songs in her catalog and it debuts as high as number 8. At 17 New Radicals, a new 'group' or something like that, you know, those kind of bbands where only the lead singer is known. Well, they (or him) did really good everywhere with this song "You Get What You Give", where they mention Hole, Hanson, Marilyn Manson and Beck, but the singer had some weird stance on stardom, so by the time they released a second single, he decided to dissolve the band. At 18, Dave Matthews Band with "Rapunzel" song that I paired with the intro to the album "Pantala Naga Pampa" for greater effect jajaja. I don't remember if it worked or not, but while I compile more charts, I will remember. And finally at the bottom, Portishead with another song from their eponymous album "Mourning Air" another song along the same lines of the rest of the songs on the album, a good song, but clearly not as good as let's say "Only You".
