History is made, after 26 consecutive charts, Pet Shop Boys leave the number two spot that they had retained since the beginning! So, will be Björk able to knock down Take That? it looks like there's a chance! Another popular song, "One Of Us" by Joan Osborne and the barely remembered "La Guitarra" by Los Auténticos Decadentes, are the two new entries.

19.- Madonna & Massive Attack - I Want You
20.- Gin Blossoms - Follow You Down (DEBUT)

Sadly, this chart marks the last appearance of the song "Til I Hear It From You", but months later, when I put my hands on that song, it debuted again, so keep checking, the song is all but done :D Also, this chart marks the entrance of another song by this band, the excellent "Follow You Down". While at the top, Björk continues strong... will she be able to knock Take That of the first place? We'll discover that very soon.

18.- Madonna & Massive Attack - I Want You
19.- Gin Blossoms - 'Til I Hear It From You
20.- Chris Isaak - Wicked Game

And lo and behold, we're witnessing an important event. Björk debuts with what was the 4th single from her album "Post" and it will soon make a little little bit of history, an amazing song, arguably the best song on that album. And I need to explain what was happening with "I Want You", well, I heard the song like a couple of times and its short run so far was mostly due to that, and when I heard the song again, it was like many months after that, so that explains it bad run.

19.- Chris Isaak - Wicked Game
20.- Gin Blossoms - 'Til I Hear It From You (DEBUT)

So, what myterious force made me drop George Michael from the chart the list before? Nobody knows, but here's he back again, this time entering at 13. And, does anyone even know or remember who was Lisa Moorish? I certainly remember her, but if it wasn't for my chart, she would have left my head many many years ago... but here she is, debuting. And a cool band debuts at 20, Gin Blossoms with a great song, "Til I Hear It From You", I still love it to this day, even the video was cool.

By now, if you're reading this, you must be like "WTF are Take That doing still at number one?" I promise they are knocked out in future charts, just patience... jajajja, get it? A new debut comes from Madonna aided by Massive Attack with the song "I Want You" which is one of the few great songs that Madonna has performed. And to ruin things, The Cranberries also debut with an oldie: "Linger" but yeah, that song is not that bad, I kinda like it still.

20.- Björk - Human Behaviour (DEBUT)

Yes, two new entries. At 19, an amazing song by George Michael, his comeback single "Jesus To A Child" which was well received mostly, and it's so gorgeous, so slow and so romatic. People speculate it was dedicated to his partner who had died recently. And at 20, Björk, with what was her first single as a solo artist, it came out in 1992 IF I'm not wrong. Cool video.

Finally, the songs that were glued in the highest places, begin to move, giving room for new blood. The only debut comes at 19, with Collective Soul and the song "The World I Know", that has a nice video... well, I remember liking it, cause today if I come across that video on tv, I would skip it easily! jajajajaja

20.- Alanis Morissette - You Oughta Know

Oh! An artist that even if it was played to death by MTV, was somehow, more... arty than many of the songs I had been charting at the time. I never became a real fan of Smashing Pumpkins, but what i liked began with "1979" (The year I was born by the way). Just like Pulp's song, this one also reminds me of chicken nuggets and ice cream... ahhh, those were the days!

Lisa Loeb, with Nine Stories debut with "Taffy", video hardly played on MTV Latin America, but was good enough for me at the time. And Los Fabulosos Cadillacs debut too, making themselves company with Blondie singer Debbie Harry. Before Vicentico started his solo career and before he became FAT... yeah, he was nice looking back then.

More Chris Isaak is ALWAYS a good thing, so he achieved 3 song inside the top 10. Too bad that, even when he's my favorite solo male singer, he hasn't achieved many GREAT hits in my chart, and probably his greatest only happened during 2006. In the rest of the chart, we see how the songs that debuted in chart one are slowly falling down the chart and will disappear soon.

Ah, Oasis debuts. Trying (TRYING, not necessarily being it) to be objective, i gotta admit that Oasis were a decent to good band bback in the 90's, and "Wonderwall" was an international hit, too bad that they are crap nowadays. We also have the debut of La Ley, a group from Chile, with "Día Cero" a great song, in the best album the band released, and just like Oasis, they became crap with time. I think it is extremely too soon to think the music reflected in these charts, match my music taste now. But we are able to appreciate in small doses, that i always had a soft spot for music in different languages. And this chart was originally made in January of 1996.

Yeah!!! The highest debut is by my favorite solo male singer: Chris Isaak. This was the first time I listened to him and even if "Wicked Game" might be one of my least favorites from him, it's still a classic, everybody knows it. The song was already 6 years old, but who cares? I still remember that unplugged on MTV where I was mesmerized by him jajajaja.

As much as I dislike Blur now (probably because I detest Damon Albarn), the debut of "The Universal" is a nice addition to the chart, the video was great and the song is still lovely. Madonna gets the highest debut with "You'll see" which had a spanish version called "Verás", and if I don't like the song now, at least I don't hate it (and that's something, cause I can't stand Madonna lately)

19.- TLC - Waterfalls
20.- Ace Of Base - The Sign (DEBUT)

If you're wondering why I put that picture in every post, it's because I plan to post a picture of the album where the number one song is included, or the cover of the single if necessary, and since Take That were number one for a loooong time, you will have to deal with that pic for a few more entries.

18.- Van Halen - I Can't Stop Loving You
19.- U2 - Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me
20.- The Cranberries - Zombie

Ugh! This was my first chart, I was starting to get attracted seriously to music, and MTV played these videos, so I started liking them. You can see abominations like Van Halen, Diana King or Simply Red, but come on, I was music retarded back then. The number one song was by a band called Take That, who recently went back together (without Robbie Williams) and nothing amazing ahs happened with them. All 20 songs were debuts of course.

Hello!

I am going through a self-imposed task, upload every edition of my weekly top 20 to internet. I don't want to lose this vital info... for me at least. It's a way to preserve it. So, I might make a few comments or maybe not, so here we go.
