Céline strikes back (as she kept on doing for quite some time), this time with the very calm and beautiful "I Remember L.A.". At 18, Oasis make their come back, with the ballad "Don't Go Away". No Doubt was all over the place and still managed to slip in yet another song, this time "Different People". And finally at 20, Texas with "Black Eyed Boy" a cool song with a cool video.

19.- Meredith Brooks - Bitch (DEBUT)
20.- La Onda Vaselina - Mírame A Los Ojos (DEBUT)

Meredith Brooks' career is already done or is really shaking last time I read, but when she released "Bitch", it caused some controversy because of the title, but the song was typical rock-pop stuff, totally harmless. And mexican pop group, that later became OV7 (and eventually disbanded) enters here with "Mírame A Los Ojos".

19.- Björk - Enjoy (Further Over The Edge Mix) (DEBUT)
20.- Céline Dion - Send Me A Lover (DEBUT)

Yes, Gary Barlow (former... and again in 2007, leader of Take That) still had that something about him to make it easy for him to debut his third single right at number one, a pretty ballad. At 18, we have a revamped version of "Foolish Games" that appeared in the Batman & Robin soundtrack. Originally, the song appeared on "Pieces Of You" album, but it was too rough and a little groany and throaty for most people I guess, cause if not, how to explain that new version for the soundtrack? Now, that was a clean and really beautiful version, entering her at 18. Björk's "Telegram" (a remixes album) still had something to give, and straight from that album, we have a mix of "Enjoy", a song that had previously charted. And finally, to have a cousin who is the greatest fan of Céline Dion, it seems a little weird that i am a little bit unsure about "Send Me A Lover". I remember recording it from the radio, but it was only after many years that we found out what was its origin... which I forgot already it seems... jajaja not a bad song.

19.- En Vogue - Whatever (DEBUT)
20.- Irán Castillo - Yo Por Él (DEBUT)

Ahh, Third Eye Blind!! They're great, granted, not a top band, but their songs are really enjoyable and make me feel good, here they are debuting with "Semi-Charmed Life". At the time it was released, they commented that they would have preferred another song as a single, cause this one was too catchy and poppy, while the rest of the song on the album were more rocky. I don't know what they were talking about, but to me, the song is yes, poppy, but it perfectly sounds like a Third Eye Blind song. At 18, James enters with "Tomorrow", I don't even remember that song jajajaja. At 19, En Vogue with "Whatever", it was a good song, but the video was what caught my attention, really dark and a little twisted, just great! And at the bottom, the, by then, new artist Irán Castillo, a mexican actress-singer, sadly, she neglected her singing career in favor of the acting. "Yo Por Él" was a pop song, nothing ground breaking, but it was catchy.

The video for "Strange" was... strange jajaja, I remember watching it only once but it was cool. And U2 re-debut their song "Staring At The Sun" but with a remix that i really don't remember. And just so you know, in the World Chart Show, this same week, these are a few positions:
1.- Hanson - Mmmbop / 5.- U2 - Staring At The Sun / 10.- Babyface & Stevie Wonder - How Come How Long / 15.- En Vogue - Whatever / 20.- Lisa Stansfield - The Real Thing / 25.- Az Yet - Hard To Say I'm Sorry / 30.- Black Street - Don't Leave Me / 33.- Jon Secada - Too Late Too Soon / 36.- Jewel - You Were Meant For Me/

At 17, a great song from Bush, also from the album "Razorblade Suitcase", the song "Bonedriven". 18, Texas with "Halo" a much more exciting song than "Say What You Want". At 19, Paula Cole and in the 20th position... U2 again?????

And in its 25th week, when all hope was lost, No Doubt take their trademark song straight to number one. "Don't Speak" is still a song everyone remembers them for. They also debut at 16 with "Just A Girl". Eros Ramazzotti enters with "C'e Una Strada In Cielo", and I'm not completely sure in what studio album (if any) it appeared, but I debuted it based on the live take on his double album "Eros In Concert". At 19, we see mexican star Fey, back in the day, she was hugely successful and had multiple number ones, here with "Te Pertenezco". And finally "Prière Païenne" by Céline Dion makes its debut. It originally appeared on "D'eux" but back then, I included it based on "Live A Paris".

And at 20, the second single (even if after millenniums after the first) from Gary Barlow's album "Open Road".

"You Win I Lose" enjoyed a moderate success in the world, but it failed to put them on the place where they were before, still I don't feel the need to research their back catalog, this song is more than enough. At 16, Texas enter with "Say What you Want" a song that at first listen sounds dull, but it's not. More No Doubt, Eternal and Björk with "Possibly Maybe" (Post and Telegram versions)

And this chart 101, marks the end of the reign of terror started by Eros Ramazzotti. His mammoth song "Quasi Amore" finally gives up the number one. Great song, but 19 weeks was overkill!

Cool song. And at 20, Wallflowers with the song that made them a one-hit wonder "One Headlight", sure, they had more singles, but never achieved the same success again.

Spice Girls mania all over the world! They had released in the UK the double A side single "Who Do You Think You Are?/Mama" and I decided to chart them separately. Weird, cause later, months or years after this, i began charting couples of songs... yeah, yeah, I KNOW! So Spice girls enter with what became their most successful song in my chart at 16. At 17, a second single from U2's "POP" album. 18 sees the entrance of Oasis with a song from their first album "Whatever". And at 20, due to the craziness that "Wannabe" generated in México, I felt compelled to chart the song again.

20.- Spice Girls - Say You'll Be There (DEBUT)

From the movie Evita, Madonna enters with "Don't Cry For Me Argentina", a ballad that had also a kinda dance remix (more like pop) that was also hugely popular. At 15, Republica with "Drop Dead Gorgeous". I remember in the magazine Switch, a mexican music magazine, in one edition, they had a terrible review of the Republica album, and only a few pages later, there was an ad promoting the album saying it was excellent... just funny! In 18, another old song, "Water from the moon" by Céline Dion, a good song. And at 19, a special song, "I Finally Found Someone" by Céline Dion. Something happened at the Grammys (or Oscars?) than Barbra Streisand didn't want to, or couldn't sing live, so Céline sang her song (that was originally a duet between Barbra and Bryan Adams) and I really liked that version, so I debuted it. And finally in 20, more Spice Girls, America was slower releasing singles, so while the UK had more singles released from the Spice Girls album, in America only two were on the radio at that time, so "Say You'll Be There" was the second song to hit the american airwaves.

Duncan Sheik!! Yeah, his debut single was very popular, not so much in my city, but in other parts of the world. "Barely Breathing" did the trick, made him sell records and I suppose he gained many fans, but I also suspect many were disappointed. You see, the albbum is full of slow songs, so if you were attracted by the catchiness of the single, you only find like a couple more upbeat tracks. That said, the album is very good. And "All By Myself" was released as a single, and that always re-sparked my interest in songs I had already loved. I had already charted it, but here she goes a second time. And last but not least... THE LEGENDARY PINK DOTS!!! with a really sinister and demented and terrorific and terrific song... more like an experiment. I guess this is the first song I ever charted that completely broke the standars of what I had been charting up to that point. Here's the short story: I was happily listening to one of my favorite radio shows 'Frecuencia alterada' on Radio Tamaulipas. Then, when they played this same song, i was like "WTF is this shit??? I love it!!" so I pressed record on my tape recorder :D I kept the song recordad on tape for all those years, wondering exactly who they were and what song it was. I remembered enough of the name and title, to have a flashback when I saw the title written on a page. A few weeks ago, i was reading dusted magazine on the web and they reviewed their latest album. I was like "I know that name!!" and began a quest to find the song online. Which led me to this point in time. Just today, February 22 2007, I found the song and listened to it again!! AHHH!!! jajajaja, yeah, long story, but it had to be told :D Too bad the song did horrible on my chart.

Blur enter the chart at 19 with "Beetlebum" a great single, but if I never listen to it again, nothing bad will happen. And finally David Bowie enters at 20 with "Little Wonder" a great song with a great video. For people who speak spanish, pay attention to the chorus, it seems he is saying "San Paraguay" jajajaja!!

Ahhh, after ELEVEN weeks on top, Eros Ramazzotti gives up the top spot. The replacement is a debut, Kula Shaker, a british band that loved to talk about how much they loved hindi religion or something... something around India or... something jajajaja!! Anyway, their song "Tattva" (which is in english with one line in another language) was really good, particullarly the ending. They had an ok album, but the next album was... not good. And on 13, Jewel (back when she didn't suck) enters with "You Were Meant For Me".

And Céline keeps on debuting, this time at 20 with "If That's What It Takes", even if I prefer the french version "Pour Que Tu M'aimes Encore".

It was a good time, cause I could listen to lots of new albums (and others not so new) for free! Yeah, I also bought cds, but not that many (didn't have enough money). So, if someone's reading this, you can guess what were the new cds my cousin bought: Yes, "Tragic Kingdom" and "The Colour Of My Love". So, all 5 debuts come from those two albums.

At 16, Sheryl Crow, which I detest now, but remember liking her very much, here, with the second single from her second album "Everyday Is A Winding Road". At 17, a song that I still enjoy very much to this day, "Swallowed" by the now disbanded group Bush. Cranberries debut at 18 and Céline's "Refuse To Dance" at 20.

Ragazzi was a mexican pop group with an italian name, and their song "Veneno" was really nice. There were other incarnations of that group years later, but never became what the original line up achieved. "To Love You More" is one of Céline's most intense songs, so it's weird the song was not at the time, released in a 100% studio album. I remember being a bonus track in some versions of "Falling Into You" (Or am I thinking of "Your Light"?), also on "Live A Paris" and in some editions of "Let's Talk About Love", and was released as a single in Japan, i think. She surely missed the chance of a hit in the rest of the world. But anyway, it debuts here at 6. And Chris Isaak tries again, this time with "Things Go Wrong" from his fantastic album "Forever Blue"

At 17, Eros debuts with an apocaliptic song, mostly in its lyrical content, not so much in the musical field, it is hopeful at least... even if a completely apocaliptic and demonic and with no hope song would be preferred, the song is still great after all these years. And the other entry comes from Los Ilegales, a latino group that enjoyed success around 1996-1997, their song is called "A Que te Pongo", which featured a lyrics and a video that were a bit too suggestive ;)

At number one debbuts a song I adored for a long time "Quasi Amore", a beautiful ballad, that for some reason touched me deep inside, not sure why, since I cannot relate much to the lyrics... i believe, I haven't read the lyrics in a long time... maybe it can be applied to me now, who knows? Then, at 5, another great song "L'uragano Meri" and in the 7th position "Dove C'è Musica" the song from which the album takes its name. Then we have a severly overlooked gem, "Changed Your Mind" by the awesome Chris Isaak. This song has a way to prove how much I like it, go here: http://www.last.fm/user/psychicdrill/ (I will add the address to the links part to the right part of the page) That's my last.fm account, and it certifies that "Changed Your Mind" has become my most played song during the last two years, and that's considering that the song is from 1995. Anyway! My other cousin bought the "Pisces Iscariot" b-sides album by Smashing Pumpkins and a song was called "Soothe", a beautiful slow song that had to debut at 14. Céline kept debuting old songs like "Where Does My Heart Beat Now?" (which had a terrible video)

Get ready, for the next many many charts, we're gonna be admiring the cover picture of the album "Dove C'é Musica". Eros debuts at numbebr one with the curious song "Questo Immenso Show", which features the sound of something that sounds like a horse jajajaj it's cute. And guess who bought his album? After trying desperately to find the italian version in a spanish-speaking country, I finally succeeded, so what else could I do but to milk the album just like I did with "Falling Into You"? "L'aurora" was the third single from the albbum and here, debuts at numbber 5. Céline Dion removes the dust from her first english album and places "Have A Heart" at number 17. Meanwhile, Chris Isaak, the artist we all love and adore, debuts with the title track from his 1995 Grammy nominated album "Forever Blue". An album that remains among the best 5 albums ever made. Too bad that Chris has always struggled in my chart with a few exceptions.

And i can't believe it, another Céline song debuts!! "Declaration Of Love" enters at 12

While listening to "Everything (As It Moves)" by Idlewild right now (2007), I really am kinda shocked how different my music taste was back then. By this time, I considered "It's All Coming Back To Me Now" to be the best song ever recorded (yes, how easy I forgot "Back For Good"!!) so it's no surprise she has spent 7 weeks on top. And guess what? She debuts with yet another song "Make You Happy" at 17. It's not that I dislike Céline's music now, it's just lost that semi-connection I had with it, I am more moved by her french music, but still, I kinda remember the 90's english songs with a warm feeling. Oh yes, and Tina Turner enters at 20 with "Missing You"

Poor Merril, I was checking wikipedia to learn how to properly spell her name and she was indeed, succesful at first, but then, poof, gone. Here debuts at 14 with a cute song "Mouth". At 17 and 18 a couple of... typical entries for these times (1996) Oasis and Céline Dion.

20.- George Michael - To Be Forgiven (DEBUT)

Last chart marked the first anniversary of my chart! Anyway, in this one, the surprise is that there are 9 debuts! Starting with Toni Braxton with her monster ballad "Un-Break My Heart", song that I can't believe it, but was even discussed (the translation of the title) in a news show!! There was a spanish version of it also if I'm not wrong. George Michael has a couple of debuts, one at 12, "The Strangest thing", one of the most upbeat songs on his album (and that's saying something, since the album is very slow, but great), and also at 20 with "To Be Forgiven" that in contrast, is one of the more mellow songs, just great! Oasis enters with "Hey Now", and for some bizarre reason "Because You Loved Me" by Céline Dion re-enters the chart, but of course, she brought another song along with her, "Dreamin' Of You" at 17. Toni Braxton also scored another song, "There's No Me Without You"... I don't like Toni Braxton at all. Then, at 18, a new single by Sting "I Was Brought To My Senses", which had a great video. And finally Enya debuts with one of her ominous songs, yes she is known for soft and friendly whispered ballads... new age ballads, but almost on each album, she includes a sinister song, so "Pax Deorum" is that song on "The Memory Of Trees".

Ahh, the internationality was present back then too, even if not all the time. At 20, the only debut comes from italian singer Laura Pausini with "Incancellabile", a great and powerful ballad. Too bad she has lost her touch and aside from a few, very few songs, she continues making mediocre songs.

Céline Dion continued her domination of the chart with yet another song, this time "River Deep Mountain High". I remembered my brother jokingly used to get pissed off because of this particular song, and well, yes, now that I look back at it, it's a little... over the top, specially for a balladeer. But to each his/her own, Céline's version is better than the lacklustre Tina Turner version. Then, at number 10, eros Ramazzotti returns once more, this time is his third, everytime debuting higher. Maybe this time he will achieve something? Future charts will clear that out. And finally at 20 a lousy version of "Come On Feel The Noise" by Oasis. Oh and yeah, I can't explain how a shitty song like "Not The Doctor" by Alanis, stayed more weeks in chart than "Forgiven"

Ah, that Donna Lewis song. I listened to it in the World Chart Show, and during like 4 weeks, while doing the countdown (at least the spanish version) they skipped a position, so you knew a song was rising fast. We finally hear it when she reached numbebr 5 or something and it was so cute that I had to debut her. And then, Toni Braxton makes a second attempt with a song that had previously debuted.
